The MA program focuses on English for Professional Communication (EPC). The curriculum includes 6 major features:

  1. Integration of Cross-field Curriculum: We combine English and professionalism with special emphases on languages and cultural skills in “Cross-Cultural Communication” in each professional field. The courses of this program emphasize both practical and theoretical aspects to cultivate English students skilled in language and cross-cultural communication.

  2. Overseas/Off-campus Internships: In addition to internships in Taiwan, students also gain access to more internship opportunities overseas. Students are expected to serve internship during summer vacations to benefit their future careers.

  3. Short-term Study Plan for Students: Postgraduate students of this program will have exchange opportunities and can apply for short-term study in foreign schools associated with Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages. Students are also encouraged to apply for short-term study in China, Singapore, or Hong Kong to broaden regional and global perspectives and accumulate cross-cultural experience.

  4. Dual Degree Programs:We have established Dual degree programs with some universities overseas. We promote the “1+1 mode”, meaning one year of study in Taiwan and one year of study in a foreign university. Students will get two M.A. degrees after they graduate and this will greatly enhance their competitiveness.

  5. Five-Year Plan (3+2) for B.A. and M.A. Degrees: Senior students of Department of English are able to apply for the Master’s Degree Program and can take some M.A. courses before becoming full-time postgraduates. This plan shortens the study period. Students can finish their B.A. and M.A. in 5 (3+2) years. Outstanding students can benefit from this plan and enter the workplace earlier.

  6. English graduation threshold: This program sets an English graduation threshold. All students in the Master’s program must pass CSEPT Level 2 (Score 280, an equivalence to TOEIC score 800) or other English proficiency tests with the equivalent levels.
